Television producer and hilarious stand-up comedian Helen Hong has just added matchmaker to her resume. The Asian matchmaking comedy show, “K-Date” has been a success in the world of love with one couple moving in together and many others getting close and friendly. Oh yeah, baby.
Hong with four other comedians came up with the innovative idea of speed matchmaking while doing comedy. How brilliant is that? New York Times reporter, Susan Dominus described “K-Date” as something more refined than just simple “speed dating.”
She wrote: “it’s speed matchmaking of singles in the audience of a comedy show. Actually, it’s even more refined than that: it’s speed matchmaking of singles in the audience of a comedy show that has been packed with Asian-Americans.
Comix’s management, a comedy club in NYC, invited the comedian to host a show “in hopes of attracting an Asian audience.” “K-Date” is now a huge hit and is returning to satiate our hunger for love and laughter this Tuesday.
