I was keeping an eye out for SBS’s Giant when the potential lead actor was Kim Myung-min, but the drama has announced a different lead actor, Lee Beom-soo. This will mark Lee’s return to television two years after his last drama wrapped, SBS’s On Air.

The story of Giant is set against the urban development and economic growth period of the 1970s and depicts “one man’s ambition and love.” The series will have 50 episodes and has also cast Hwang Jung-eum (currently enjoying popularity for the sitcom High Kick Through the Roof) as Lee’s younger sister. The main female lead has not yet been finalized. Giant will replace Jejoongwon on Mondays and Tuesdays and will begin filming in April.

The story doesn’t seem like my kind of drama but I’d been curious when Kim Myung-min was eyeing the role. However, though I generally like Lee Beom-soo, he isn’t on my must-see list, so my interest in Giant will stay pretty low for the time being.
