Looks like Hallyuwood wants a piece of the 2PM boys, too. Considering 2PM’s latest spurt of popularity with their success at MAMA as well as the release of their first full-length album, it’s no surprise that the beastly group’s resident pretty boy, Nichkhun, would be approached for a chance to shine on the silver screen as a leading character in The Shining Diploma.

The film will begin filming in December. According to the film’s production team, Nichkhun was chosen because of his “unique facial features.” Huh? Well, at least they’re honest.

The comedy film tells the story of a mother who never finishes high school and decides to continue her education just as her son begins to plan for his wedding. Nichkhun will be playing her second son, who is reportedly difficult and rebellious on the outside, but really a softie on the inside. Awww… how adorably cliched.

Additionally, JYP himself is said to be making a cameo appearance in the film. Man, he really does like sharing the limelight with his artists, doesn’t he…

I’ll admit that I’m not a giant 2PM fan, but as I’ve mentioned in previous articles, the whole singer-turned-actor idea somewhat excites me… although Nichkhun’s still-accented Korean and supposed lack of acting training (they’re filming in December and they’re announcing this now?) still worries me a bit. Meh. We’ll just have to see. Best of luck to K-pop’s resident meerkat.
