On the November 7th episode of Champagne, SS501 leader Kim Hyun Joong was chosen to play the ‘Top 32 Ideal Type WorldCup’ portion of the show from amongst the other guests; SS501 members Heo Young Saeng, Kim Kyu Jong, Park Jung Min, and Kim Hyung Joon, and the three leads of Korea’s Legally Blond musical former Miss Korea and Miss Universe Runner up Honey Lee, Jessica of SNSD, and actress Kim Ji Woo. In the first round of the ‘Top 32 Ideal Type WorldCup’ which makes guests choose their ‘ideal’ type from a field of 32 of Kpop’s finest, Hyun Joong was presented with the choice of the Nation’s Fairy Lee Hyori and his former buin from We Got Married Hwang Bo. And, the winner was… Lee Hyori. This isn’t too much of a surprise because Hyun Joong had always said that his ideal type was Hyori (although at one point after WGM he said that he changed his ideal type to Hwang Bo). During his guest appearance on Family Outing he also revealed that he had been a huge fan of hers since her Fin.K.L days and even new all the choreography to their songs.
Don’t feel too sorry for Hwang Bo though, because in the semi-final round he chose Jessica’s younger sister and f(x) member Krystal over Hyori. I guess now we know why he never went for it with Hyori even though she approached the subject in Family Outing, in which he had said that he always thought of her as a star. In the end, Hyun Joong chose fellow guest Honey Lee as his ideal type. It’s hard to compete with a former Miss Korea (and Miss Universe finalist who everyone said was robbed of the title) who’s beautiful, intelligent, talented, and only THREE years older than Hyun Joong.
I don’t feel too bad for Hyori, because duh, she’s LEE HYORI. I’m pretty sure she’ll survive the disappointment. As for Hwang Bo, I think she was just too much woman for Hyun Joong. I mean she’s a successful singer, she can cook, knit, and sew, she has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she has a race car driver’s license, AND she can open a bottle of beer with a spoon! But, I’ll give Kim Hyun Joong this- I’ve never wanted a thousand hand made origami cranes more in my life than seeing him give them to Hwang Bo in WGM, that was super romantic.
